over the hills

My mindset was set on a cool 5 hour journey to Kansas where I had photographed a wedding for the Opara family a few years back. As a precaution, whenever I have such out of state assignments, I cross check my coordinates on Mapquest to be sure. On this occasion, I got the shock of my life when I realized that I was actually destined to Kansas City in Missouri; a 9 hour journey and not Kansas State. This is a montage of sights as I edge north east towards Missouri.

Pineapple blues

Transporting farm produce could sometimes prove to be an audacious task. A few miles from the Atlantic ocean on the west African coastline, I observed the extra effort made by transporters to ensure that perishable items such as pineapples are delivered to the market at the most cost effective way. How else would we prevent waste anyway?

Biafra currency spotted

"Oga, I get change for all currency. I even get am for Biafra pounds..." What? my ears stood up straight like that of an Alsatian dog. I asked the bureau de change operator if he was joking about that. 'Sir, we dey change am all the time here'. I was amazed such that I asked him for the value. When next you are in Togo or Benin Republic, ask. View the photo below.

Sights and Sound of Makoko, Lagos

A volunteer trip tagged 'Grace Project' revealed the other side of extreme living conditions in a section of Lagos that has become home to thousands. Ironically, just across the Lagoon from Makoko is Banana Island; a billionaire's haven.

Sunrise, Sunset

It's 6.30pm and I am about 39,000ft above the skies of the United States. I am reclined in my seat with my Bose headset neatly wrapped around my head and my eyes affixed on the movie; "Captain Philips". A quick glance from my window seat revealed a spectacular sight of the Sun setting on the horizon. My Galaxy Note 3 had been set on 'Airplane' mode which gave room for the split second opportunity to capture the 'beauty of nature'.

10 hours later and somewhere above Europe, the Sun was rising and I repeated the same action to capture the moment. Sunrise, Sunset, One Trip, One World. God is Great.
